Bird lovers flock to Sagres again this October

Bird lovers flock to Sagres again this October

18 June 2026

From 2 to 5 October, Sagres will once again be on the map of major migratory movements — and this time we’re not talking about tourists looking for that last summer dip. We’re talking about birds, lots of birds, and the people who head to the southwestern tip of Portugal every year to watch them.

Dates have been announced for the 17th edition of the Sagres Birdwatching and Nature Activities Festival which promises once again to bring together ornithologists, naturalists, curious visitors and families in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, one of the best places in Europe to witness the autumn migration.

The full programme will be announced on 5 August, with registration set to open on 2 September.
