Seawatching at Cape Saint Vincent

Seawatching means watching seabirds from land, in this case, the top of the crags at Cape Saint Vincent. It is likely to see good numbers of Northern Gannet and an interesting array of birds adapted to the marine environment during their migration. On a good day one would be able to see several shearwater species, gulls, terns, skuas and the resident shags. It is also normal to see some land birds next to the cape, like Blue-rock thrush or Black Redstart. Birds must be identified often on the wing and at a good distance.

  Bring your own optic gear (binoculars and/or telescope absolutely necessary). Bring rain cover, a hat with a string and suncream. Soil is rocky and very irregular. There may be strong winds and some rain is considered tolerable. A stool or a camping chair might increase your comfort.
