We all know the importance of pollination in natural ecosystems and food production. But who are the insect pollinators? Did you know that there are more than 700 species of bees in Portugal? Ever heard of hover flies? And what is the role of butterflies, beetles, wasps and so many other insects? In this activity we will show the incredible diversity of insect pollinators that we find in our country, teach how to differentiate the main groups, understand their other ecological functions and how we can protect these fantastic and essential creatures!
The activity includes an indoor part (about 30 minutes), after which we will go to the field to find insects (walking less than 2km).
