The Portuguese Butterfly Monitoring Scheme was launched in May 2019 and is part of the European Butterfly Monitoring Plan. It consists in regular butterfly counts on fixed routes, following a standard methodology that is used throughout Europe. It is carried out by volunteers, in a citizen science process that allows the generation of a huge volume of data, detecting trends of the conservation status of butterflies and their habitats.
In a pleasant conversation, we will present the methodology and first assessment of this project in Portugal.
This activity is facilitated by Eva Monteiro and Patrícia Pereira.
